FIBOX ARCA Non-Metallic Electrical Enclosures
Premium non-metallic electrical enclosures for harsh and demanding environments
FIBOX ARCA is the premium non-metallic enclosure solution within the IP Enclosures portfolio. Manufactured from high-performance polycarbonate, the ARCA range is designed for demanding indoor and outdoor applications where corrosion resistance, UV stability, impact performance, and electrical insulation matter.
For Australian industries exposed to weather, washdown, chemicals, coastal conditions, and harsh operating environments, FIBOX ARCA provides a strong alternative to many traditional metallic and GRP enclosure options. Backed by IP Enclosures, the range combines proven non-metallic enclosure performance with local technical support and supply.

UV Resistance
FIBOX ARCA enclosures are manufactured from UV-stabilised polycarbonate for indoor and outdoor use, making them well suited to harsh Australian environments exposed to direct sunlight and weather. Accelerated solar radiation testing provided for the range used conditions derived from ISO 4892-1 and ISO 4892-2, with 3000 hours of exposure, 60 W/m² UV intensity, and a total UV dose of 180 kWh/m². After exposure, the tested samples passed tensile, flexural, and IK impact testing, supporting strong retained mechanical performance under simulated outdoor weathering.
FIBOX ARCA Polycarbonate Enclsoures vs GRP Enclosures
For many compact outdoor and industrial enclosure applications, FIBOX ARCA polycarbonate offers important advantages over traditional GRP alternatives. ARCA combines high impact resistance, UV stability, corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, and lighter weight in a format that is easier to handle, machine, and install.
In applications such as outdoor controls, infrastructure, water, utilities, transport, and solar, these characteristics can help simplify installation while supporting long-term enclosure performance in demanding environments.
| Attribute | Fibox ARCA Polycarbonate | Polyester (GRP) |
| Corrosion resistance | Does not rust and is well suited to harsh outdoor and industrial environments | Commonly used in harsh environments, but performance depends on design, resin system, construction, and long-term exposure |
| UV performance | UV-stable high-performance polycarbonate for outdoor use | UV resistance varies by product and formulation |
| Impact performance | High impact resistance, including IK10 on published ARCA configurations | Impact performance varies by product and is often less favourable in compact enclosure handling and installation conditions |
| Weight | Lightweight and easier to transport, mount, and install | Typically heavier |
| Machining and modification | Easier and cleaner to drill, cut, and modify | Can be slower and less convenient to machine, and machining may generate fibreglass dust or fibres that can cause temporary skin irritation during handling. |
| Handling and installation | Practical for field installation and retrofit work | Often heavier and less convenient to handle |
| Surface condition | Clean finished appearance with no fibre exposure during normal handling | Surface finish and fibre-related handling characteristics vary by product |
