Mining operations across Australia often extend into highly corrosive environments, from coastal export terminals to mineral processing plants handling acids and saline water. The Mine-Spec Stainless Steel Electrical Enclosure Range, fabricated from 316L stainless steel, is purpose-engineered for these locations where corrosion resistance and durability are critical to system reliability.

The sloping-roof design prevents accumulation of dust, slurry and water while improving drainage and surface cleanliness. Integrated sun shields, identical to those validated across IP Enclosures’ thermal management range, mitigate heat build-up from direct solar exposure. This reduces the thermal load on internal equipment and maintains climate stability reducing the need for active cooling. The design is particularly suited to outdoor process control, instrumentation and telemetry systems exposed to continuous sunlight or wash-down regimes.

Each enclosure is manufactured from marine-grade 316L stainless steel with a UV-stabilised X15 Orange powder-coat finish for high visibility and additional corrosion protection. Certified to IP66 and IK10, the range provides complete protection against dust, water and mechanical impact. Standard features include integral lifting lugs for safe handling, top and bottom mounting flanges for secure installation, and an adjustable mounting plate for internal equipment configuration.

Enclosure Body & Sun Shields:

The robust monoblock body with sloping roof is fabricated using 1.5mm Grade 316L stainless steel. Flat face sealing surfaces are provided to increase seal life. Integral top and bottom mounting flange, and lifting points. The roof consists of a 30° sloped roof design that protrudes past pushbuttons for the mining industry. Integral device plate mounts and M6 earth studs are provided. Sun shields are fabricated using 1.5mm Grade 316L stainless steel and are provided with spacers to offset the surface of the shield from the surface of the enclosure. Cutting, pressing and full continuous seam welding using precision automated manufacturing equipment ensures accuracy and consistent high quality.

Enclosure Door:

The robust surface mounted door is fabricated using 1.5mm Grade 316L stainless steel and incorporates concealed removable hinges with captive pins. The door is designed for a 110° opening. Each door contains cable management rails, an M6 earth stud and a high quality machine-applied foamed in place (FIP) Polyurethane seal. Two internal cable management rails can be removed to provide additional space for equipment, duct and door mounted control components.
Sun shields are fabricated using 1.5mm Grade 316L stainless steel and are provided with spacers to offset the surface of the shield from the surface of the enclosure.

Enclosure Seal:

A high quality machine-applied full perimeter UL listed Polyurethane seal foamed in place (FIP) provides excellent sealing over a long life. Temperature resistance -40°C to 80°C (160°C short term loading).

Enclosure Lock:

Either 1 or 3 point locking system (subject to height) with key-lock swing handle.

Adjustable Device Mounting Plate:

The adjustable device mounting plate is fabricated using galvanised steel sheet. It is pressed to provide strength and is pre-fitted into the enclosure as standard.

Gland Plate:

A full size 5mm aluminium gland plate with polyurethane seal is incorporated into the bottom face of the enclosure for cable management.

Sun Shields:

Sun shields are provided fitted to the enclosure door, roof and sides to provide protection from heat generated from direct sunlight. Each sun shield is pressed to provide strength and to provide safety edges to improve operator safety. Fitted spacers provide an adequate gap between the enclosure and the sun shied. An opening is provided around the lock/s to maintain access to the enclosure.

Surface Treatment:

UL approved AkzoNobel polyester powder coated with a smooth gloss finish, 80-120 micron average thickness, providing excellent exterior durability and color retention. Colour: X15 Orange.
