Ventilated Electrical Enclosures
The S1 range of ventilated electrical enclosures by IP Enclosures is engineered to reduce internal heat buildup and extend the operational life of electrical equipment. Each enclosure is constructed from high-quality powder-coated galvanised steel in a single-door configuration. A key feature of this range is the inclusion of precision factory-cut apertures for fans and vents, which significantly streamlines installation and maintains enclosure integrity. When combined with IP-V2000-UV or IP-V2200-UV ventilation systems, these enclosures achieve an IP55 protection rating.
Pre-cut fan and vent openings offer substantial time and labour savings during installation. By eliminating the need for on-site cutting or modifications, integrators and contractors can reduce installation times and avoid associated costs. Additionally, as the apertures are cut prior to powder coating, the cut edges of the openings receive the same durable, corrosion-resistant finish as the rest of the enclosure. This ensures long-term protection from rust, particularly in harsh outdoor or industrial environments, while maintaining enclosure aesthetics and performance.
Effective ventilation is essential for preventing overheating of sensitive equipment, especially in sun-exposed or high-demand environments. Testing shows that active fan-assisted ventilation can reduce internal temperatures by up to 20–25% compared to unventilated enclosures. Fans should be installed near the base of the enclosure to introduce filtered ambient air, with vents positioned at the top to exhaust hot air, ensuring efficient airflow and minimising thermal hotspots. Like all IP Enclosures products, the S1 ventilated range is precision manufactured in Europe and complies with IEC/EN 62208, IEC/EN 61439, and IEC/EN/AS 60529 (up to IP66 and IK10 for unventilated variants), making them ideal for industrial control, automation, and outdoor infrastructure applications.
IP55 Ventilated Enclosures
The S1 range of ventilated electrical enclosures are rated for protection up to IP55 (when used with IP-V2000-UV, IP-V2200-UV). This range is wall-mounted, powdercoated galvanised steel, single door construction, and features cut-outs for fans and vents for fast and easy assembly.

Enclosure Body:
The robust monoblock body is fabricated using 1.2mm galvanised steel sheet. Flat face sealing surfaces are provided to increase seal life. Pre-fitted blind nutserts are incorporated to accommodate mounts and accessory fasteners to eliminate drilling and retain IP rating. Integral device plate mounts and M6 earth studs are provided. A galvanised steel gland plate is incorporated into the bottom face. Two cutouts 125mm x 125mm are provided, located diagonally opposite,
to house a fan and vent. Cutting, pressing and full continuous seam welding using precision automated manufacturing equipment ensures accuracy and consistent high quality.
Enclosure Door:
The robust surface mounted door is fabricated using 1.5mm galvanised steel sheet and incorporates concealed removable hinges with captive pins. The door is designed for a 110° opening. Each door contains cable management rail, an M6 earth stud and a high quality machine-applied foamed in place (FIP) Polyurethane seal. Two internal cable management rails can be removed to provide additional space for equipment, duct and door mounted control components.
Enclosure Seal:
A high quality machine-applied full perimeter UL listed Polyurethane seal foamed in place (FIP) provides excellent sealing over a long life. Temperature resistance -40°C to 80°C (160°C short term loading).
Enclosure Lock:
5mm double bit insert quarter turn lock with key.
Device Mounting Plate:
The device mounting plate is 1.5mm galvanised steel sheet. It is pressed to provide strength and is pre-fitted into the enclosure as standard.
Gland Plate:
Gland plates are incorporated into the bottom face of the enclosure for cable management. They are provided with gaskets and fasteners. The size and quantity vary according to enclosure size.
Surface Treatment:
UL approved AkzoNobel epoxy polyester powder coated with a textured finish. 80-120 micron average thickness. The standard electrical enclosure colour is RAL7035. A full range of other colour options are available upon request.
